Join Veselka

Join Us

Anyone can join Veselka. We ask that you have some background in dancing before joining. We invite anybody who has Ukrainian Dance experience to join. Members must be able to dedicate enough time to participate and make a difference in the organization.

*Due to our upcoming performances, new female dancers are required to have their own velvet Hopak costume as well as red boots. It is also required that men have their own Hopak costume and red boots.

**If you do not have these pieces, new members should be willing to borrow/purchase these items.

Intake for Members

As of December 2020, Veselka has suspended new Memberships until Alberta Health Services recommends regular group in-person rehearsals to restart.

Time

Regular rehearsals are typically held Monday from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm at the Slovenian Hall, 16703-66 Street, Edmonton. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, rehearsals are currently being held virtually online.

Fees

Due to the current situation with Covid-19, fees will be revaluated once classes are allowed to return to normal. For the 2018-2019 dance season, the yearly membership fee was $120 for the entire year, and for new members, there is a refundable $100 costume deposit.

Benefits

There are several benefits to becoming a member of Veselka. Our members are close friends and we have a great time when we dance together. We all have a common interest and love preserving the art of Ukrainian dance. We perform at several functions throughout the year, and we have done some traveling across Canada in the past. Please see our events page for upcoming performances.
